So if you haven't thought about it in a while (or don't have a toddler) it is really difficult to master holding up two (or three) fingers on one hand. When Miles turned two we had to teach him to hold up the index finger on each hand and say "I'm Two!". Lately he's been working on the one handed 2 and 3, even explaining the mechanics to Wayne: "Hold down dis finger with th' thumb. No daddy, like dis!"
Now he's practicing all sorts of counting and demonstrating his skill. This morning while watching Saturday morning cartoons in bed with us I hear, "hey Mommy, hey mommy, what dis?"
I raise my head from my pillow and try hard to tell him he's holding up one finger, while not laughing too hard. My son is flipping me the bird at 7:15 a.m.
